NEW DELHI: In a hilarious turn of events, India skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday pulled off one of his on-field antics masterpiece after teammate Kuldeep Yadav tried to convince him to take a DRS for a caught behind off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah.
The funny incident took place in the final session on the third day of the Vizag Test, when an away-swinging Bumrah delivery went past the outside edge of Zak Crawley’s bat as he tried to slash it through the off side.
As the Indian went up in appeal, the decision from the on-field umpire was not out.
But an assured Kuldeep, who was fielding at square-leg, looked absolutely certain of the edge and pressured Rohit to take the DRS. A stunned Rohit put up his hand in surprise as refuted Kuldeep’s suggestion to go for the DRS.
As subsequent replays confirmed that there was a big gap between the bat and the ball, a relieved Rohit had a big smile on his face and gave a thumbs-up when shown on the giant screen and seemed pretty glad for not listening to Kuldeep.

India set 399 target for victory for England in the final session on the third day after Shubman Gill impressive second innings ton.
England were 67 for 1 at the close of play, losing opener Ben Duckett (28) in the improbable chase.
Zak Crawley (29*) and nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed (9*) were at the crease for England at the close of play.
