NEW DELHI: England’s ‘Bazball‘ approach has always clicked for them under skipper Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum but in the ongoing Test series against India it took an unfortunate turn that saw the visitors go down in the five-match series.
It was the first series defeat for Stokes and McCullum since they took charge in 2022 and changed England’s fortunes with their attacking philosophy dubbed ‘Bazball’.India secured a five-wicket victory over England on the fourth day of the fourth Test in Ranchi, claiming an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
After India’s series-clinching victory, former India opener Virender Sehwag took a hilarious dig at England saying they should continue entertaining fans with their Bazball and can leave the boring thing like victory to India, Australia and New Zealand.

“Karlo Entertainment, England. Jeet jaisi boring cheez Bharat, Australia, New Zealand kar lenge,” Sehwag posted on X.
Talking about the match, India slipped to 120-5 in their chase of 192 but Shubman Gill (52) and Dhruv Jurel (39) put on an unbeaten stand of 72 to achieve the target during the second session in Ranchi.
Gill played the anchor in his 124-ball knock as he and Jurel, who made 90 in India’s first innings, staved off a mini-crisis when Shoaib Bashir took two wickets in two balls soon after lunch.
India still needed 72 more but Gill and Jurel rotated the strike coolly to pick off singles before the former raised his fifty with two successive sixes off Bashir.
