NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested for the white ball series against South Africa as the selectors announced the Test, ODI and T20I squads for the month-long tour.
Suryakumar Yadav, who is captaining in the ongoing T20I series against Australia, will continue to lead the side in three-match T20I series against the Proteas starting December 10. KL Rahul has been appointed ODI team skipper.
Both Rohit and Virat will feature in the two-match Test series.
“Mr Rohit Sharma and Mr Virat Kohli had requested the Board for a break from the white-ball leg of the tour,” BCCI said in a press release.
“Mr Mohd. Shami is currently undergoing medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness,” it added.
Jasprit Bumrah has been named vice-captain for the Test series. Pacers Mukesh Kumar and Prasidh Krishna also found place in the 5-day format.
