Daryl Mitchell will be absent from New Zealand‘s final T20 international against Pakistan, as confirmed by the home side.
Fellow all-rounder Rachin Ravindra will step in to replace him in the squad for Sunday’s match in Christchurch.
New Zealand, having secured a 4-0 lead in the five-match series, have decided to rest Mitchell as part of their workload management strategy, as announced by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Saturday.
“Daryl is an important player for us across all three formats and ensuring he’s in the best place to perform in international cricket is vital,” coach Gary Stead said.
“Rachin is coming off a period of rest himself and will bring a valuable skill set to the group in this final match as he continues his return to cricket.”
Devon Conway was absent from Friday’s triumph due to a positive COVID-19 test. New Zealand are set to make a decision on whether to include him in the lineup for the final T20 on Sunday.
