Pant, who has been out of action due to rehabilitation following the near-fatal car accident in December 2022, is quite eager to return to the competitive arena.
Pant shared his workout video on social media platform X on Tuesday, captioning ‘pushing his limits’ to give a glimpse of his rigorous training for the upcoming tournament.
Pant is all set to lead Delhi Capitals in the upcoming cash-rich league as franchise co-owner Parth Jindal recently confirmed that the star player is progressing well in his recovery ahead of the upcoming IPL season. Jindal mentioned that Pant is currently batting, running, and has started his wicketkeeping practice, indicating positive signs for his fitness.
Jindal conveyed confidence in Pant’s complete recovery for the upcoming IPL and underscored that Pant would lead the team right from the start. Despite this assurance, the team intends to gradually reintroduce him to wicket-keeping responsibilities, particularly in the early stages of the tournament.
Initially, Pant will concentrate solely on his batting, and the decision to resume wicket-keeping duties will be contingent on his physical condition and response.
Pant, a key player for the Delhi Capitals since 2016, boasts an impressive record in the IPL, amassing 2,838 runs in 98 matches at an average of 34.61 and a remarkable strike rate exceeding 147.
With his explosive batting and potential wicketkeeping contributions, Pant’s return to full fitness will be a significant boost for the team’s campaign.
The 17th season of the IPL is set to commence on March 22, with an exciting clash between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The initial schedule spans till April 7, with further fixtures to be announced later due to the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls. Notably, the Delhi Capitals will be playing their home matches at Vizag on March 31 and April 3, with the Arun Jaitley Stadium unavailable due to prior commitments.
Post that, Capitals’ matches are away fixtures, which include matches against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 28 and against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on April 7.
