NEW DELHI: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stood tall and led the team’s fightback from the front with a record fifth T20I century during the third and final match against Afghanistan in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Rohit, who failed to open an account in the first two games, made a remarkable comeback to smash a hundred off 64 balls. He bailed India out from a precarious 22/4 with his superb knock.
Having made his return to T20Is after a hiatus of 14 months, Rohit went on to score his highest score (121 not out off 69 balls) in the shortest format.It was his first century in all T20 cricket since January 2019.

Rohit forged an unbeaten 190-run partnership with Rinku Singh (69* off 39) – highest stand for any wicket for India in T20Is – to power India to a massive total of 212/4.
He also became the leading run getter as an Indian captain in the T20I history surpassing Virat Kohli’s record of 1570 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav and Glenn Maxwell tied at the second spot with four hundreds each.
