NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the squad for the Indian women’s team, set to participate in the upcoming T20I series against England and the two Tests against England and Australia. The announcement features the inclusion of pacer Renuka Singh, who makes a comeback after recovering from injury, along with two promising Women’s Premier League (WPL) performers, Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque, who have earned spots in the T20I squad.
BCCI stated, “The Women’s Selection Committee has selected the Team India(Senior Women) squad for the upcoming T20I series against England, as well as for the two Tests against England and Australia.The squad for the white-ball series against Australia will be picked later.”
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Women in Blue in all formats, with Smriti Mandhana serving as her deputy.
Shreyanka Patil, recognized for her standout performances in the inaugural WPL, contributing 62 runs and six wickets for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and featuring in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), has earned her maiden call-up. Joining her is spinner Saika Ishaque, another WPL star who impressed with a notable performance, claiming 15 wickets for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the league’s inaugural season this year.
The T20I series against England is scheduled from December 6 to 10, followed by a solitary Test match starting from December 14. The Test match against Australia is set to begin from December 21 onwards.
