While the authenticity of the original source remains unverified, the purported chat was broadcast during a talk show on ‘ARY News’. This chat allegedly captures a conversation between Babar and Salman.
“Babar, there’s also been this news circulating on TV and social media that you have been calling the chairman and he’s not answering.Have you called him recently,” Salman was seen asking the Pakistan captain, to which the reply was: “Salam Salman bhai! Maine toh sir ko call nahi kara (Greetings Salman! I did not make any such calls to sir)”.Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Rashid Latif, who is known for fueling conspiracy theories, triggered this controversy alleging that PCB chief Zaka Ashraf has been unresponsive to Babar’s calls and text messages after the team’s defeat against Afghanistan.
Reacting to this chat, the former Pakistan captain expressed his dissatisfaction while condemning the whole episode and calling the act pathetic.
“Yeh kya karne ki koshish kar rahe ho aap log (What are you guys trying to prove)? This is pathetic. Khush ho gaye aap log (Are you guys happy now)? Please leave Babar Azam alone. He is an asset to Pakistan cricket,” Waqar posted on ‘X’ while bashing the channel.
Azhar Ali, the former Pakistan captain, was present on the show when the purported chat was broadcasted to the public. He not only questioned but also condemned the channel’s careless behavior in airing this content to the world. “Before forwarding this message, was Babar’s permission taken? And even before playing this up, you should have taken Babar’s approval,” he said.
The series of setbacks for Pakistan, facing four consecutive defeats, placed them on the verge of elimination from the ODI World Cup. Subsequently, rumors began circulating about Babar being removed from his position as captain.

The speculation gained momentum following an official statement from the PCB implying that decisions would be made in the best interest of Pakistan cricket, indirectly suggesting the potential removal of Babar.
Pakistan are on the verge of a group stage exit at the tournament and need to defeat Bangladesh on Tuesday to preserve any slim hopes of making the semi-finals.
