Fantasy XI recommendations for the IPL 2022 game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals

Mar 29: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals, 5th Match, MCA Stadium

Safe XI: Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (capt), Nicholas Pooran, Kane Williamson, Rahul Tripathi (vice-capt), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult

Captain: Sanju Samson
Royals’ captain Samson is not new to starting the tournament on a high note. He has the unique record of scoring the first hundred in an IPL season thrice – 2017, 2019 and 2021. Samson loves batting against Sunrisers, having scored 497 runs at an average of 61.13 at a strike rate of 141.19 against them.

Vice-captain: Rahul Tripathi
Tripathi is another player who has started the tournament well in the past. His scores in the first game of IPL 2021 was 53 off 29 balls, and in IPL 2020 was 36 from 16 deliveries. Tripathi was also the second-leading run-scorer for Kolkata Knight Riders last season, with 397 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 140.28.

Hot Picks
Jos Buttler: Among England’s key white-ball batters, Buttler finished last year’s T20 World Cup as their leading run-scorer with 269 runs at a strike rate of 151.12. The last time he played against Sunrisers, he smashed 124 off 64 balls, a knock which included 11 boundaries and eight sixes.

Trent Boult: He has given his side great starts in the powerplay, having taken 21 wickets in the last two seasons – the most in the league. In the same period, with 14 wickets, Boult has prospered as a death bowler too. In the T20 World Cup, he finished as the pace bowler with most wickets, and as joint second-leading wicket-taker overall with 13 wickets at an economy of 6.25.

Differential Picks
Washington Sundar: The 22-year old started this year well with 3 for 30 against West Indies in an ODI after overcoming injury problems. Sundar is expected to have a breakthrough season with his new franchise under the guidance of their captain Kane Williamson.

Riyan Parag: He has been in good form for his domestic side Assam, having recorded six scores of 50 or more in his last ten innings across formats. Parag started the last IPL season very strongly with a handy 11-ball 25, and also picked up a wicket in his only over.

High Risk XI: Sanju Samson, Kane Williamson (capt), Devdutt Padikkal, Rahul Tripathi, Shimron Hetmyer, Washington Sundar, Abhishek Sharma (vice-capt), Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, R Ashwin, T Natarajan
